The students in our afterschool programs are school - aged (5-12 years).  During the academic day, they (the students) are allowed to go to the bathroom, school office, nurse, ect.  without any adult supervision.  It seems confusing for the students to enforce the "within sight and sound" policy during the after-school program, when it is not the expectation or standard during the school day (in the same building).
