Clean Energy and Carbon Pollution

Dear Department of Environmental Quality:

I support Governor McAuliffe's leadership in the fight against climate change, despite Trump's pullout from the ts Paris Climate Accord stating that climate change is a Chinese hoax.  I'm asking the Department of Environmental Quality to use its authority to:

a.    Create a rule based on the strongest science currently available that would significantly reduce Virginia's carbon pollution from its power plants;

b.    Ensure that Virginia's citizens - not the utilities - benefit from any profits from these regulations;

c.    Help to reduce the burden on vunerable communities that are disappropriately effected by climate change; and

d.    Tramsition Virginia to a clean energy economy by investing in wind and solar power and energy efficiency.

Virginians are already seeing the disastrous, devastrating and debilatating effects of climate change from extreme doughts and heat waves to floods and rising sea levels.

It's time for Virginia to stand up as a leader on climate change and I will stand with the Governor and the Department of Environmental Quality every step of the way to implement this visionary plan to cap carbon pollution and expand our clean energy economy.  I especially want to thank Governor McAuliffe for his vision especially in light of Trump's destructive 'statements' in Paris [broadcast to the world] and his nonbelief in science based on fact.

Thank you.
