Blatant Infringement Upon The Constitutional Rights of the Law Abiding Citizenry of Virginia

Governor McAuliffe’s proposed ban for any citizen of Virginia, as well as citizens of states within the United States of America who Virginia has a reciprocity agreement with, and who legally possess a valid concealed handgun permit, to carry a concealed handgun in buildings considered “State Buildings” is no more than an effort to dismantle the laws enacted by the governing body of Virginia, (i.e.) The General Assembly, voted on and passed, by the citizenry of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Secondly, this proposed action by Governor McAuliffe is a direct infringement upon the Constitutional Rights of myself and the aforementioned citizens.

It has been proven, beyond a shadow of doubt, that so called “Gun Free Zones” are no more than areas which are invitations to the criminal element to commit their crimes against the law abiding citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia with no fear, or concern, for reprisal. therefore endangering the safety and lives of other innocent, law abiding, citizens including myself as well as my family.

Therefore, in the strongest of terms, I OPPOSE Governor McAuliffe’s proposed legislation to make state owned buildings “gun free zones” by making it illegal for law abiding citizens who possess a valid concealed handgun permit to carry such handguns in said buildings.

Respectfully,

James E. Manley, Jr.
