Keep Guns out of Public Buildings

I strongly support Govenor McAuliffe's Executive Order to strengthen gun control measures in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The provisions in Exeuctive Order 50 (2015) are designed to increase safety for all Virginians. Public buildings are no place for weaponry, outside of on-duty trained law enforcement officers. Bringing deadly weapons into public facilities were thousands of Virginians work, learn, and generally enjoy increases the chances of an accidential shooting and makes it more difficult to identify individuals who wish to harm others. Additionally, this action does not threaten an individuals Second Amendment Constitutional rights. Writing for the Supreme Court majority in District of Columbia v. Heller, Justice Scalia clearly stated that "the right secured by the Second Amenement is not unlimited...[and] nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on...laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings..."478 F. 3d 370.  I sincerely hope that these common sense gun regulations will remain in place.
