As a retired state employee I support the ban on firearms in state office buildings. Guns in the workplace have now come to be associated with those who have the intent to use them on innocent people. To see someone come in armed would have distracted me from providing good customer service and made me fearful for my safety and that of my co-workers. I own a gun and enjoy target shooting but believe guns need to be kept out of state and other buildings, churches, schools, bars, etc. Why can't the advocates for "guns everywhere" understand that seeing them armed, the public cannot distinguish them from those illegally armed with evil intent? When I see anyone (other than a public safety officer) armed in a public building I feel at risk, not safer as "everywhere" proponents think I am supposed to feel!
