As a husband of an LCPS teacher, I urge you to reject this amendment.  The notion that it must be the responsibility of the teachers to determine what is offensive and what is not, is entirely too subjective and an unfair burden to place on them.  Parents of children possess too much power over curriculum already, handcuffing a teacher's ablility to be effective.  Passing this amendment will only cause further detriment to an already deteriorating educational system, all for the want of a few lazy parents who are unable to take it upon themselves to make sure their own children can differentiate between right and wrong.

The idea that more and more material is being censored from our children is disheartening and sad.  Literature that has been revered and celebrated for decades, if not centuries, is being forgotten in the matter of a generation.  To pretend that these works of literature do not exist does not provide any benefit to the current, or future, generation of students.
