Protect Virginia's Air Quality

To Whom it May Concern,

DEQ's mission is to protect and enhance the environment in Virginia. Diesel generators are a dirty, unhealthy and cheap power source and should only be used minimally. If diesel generators must be used as a back up power source at data centers, then allow their use only in case of emergency. Please, do not allow their use for 'planned outages.' There are numerous other cleaner options: tier 4 gas generators with stronger pollution control, retrofitting current generators with pollution controls like SCR, and more.

I would like to know; 1) how many data centers in the George Washington district could be running diesel generators? 2) what kind of air quality monitoring will be required and how will this info be shared with the public? 3) is there a strict time limit on how long diesel generators can run? 4)WHY is the DEQ making it easier for private data companies to burn dirty fuel instead of requiring cleaner alternatives???These are the wealthiest corporations on the planet. They can afford to keep our VA communities air clean.

Thank you,

Ruth Landry-Stone
