Diesel Generators - hard NO

The DEQ should henceforth be named the DER - Dep't of Environmental Ruin.  Isn't it SUPPOSED to put public health first?

The emergency generator allowance should not be broadened to include planned outage events. This will contribute to more pollution and  could lead to these generators being used for demand response during periods of grid stress, which is not their intended use. Especially Tier II generators, which create much worse pollution.

If DER pursues this insanely irresponsible change, Tier II generators should not run for planned outages within at least a half mile of schools, hospitals, parks, trails and residential areas.  The public should be given notice about where and when these generators will be running and for how long.  Each site where emergency generators are running should be inspected daily to monitor fuel usage and should be equipped with air quality monitoring for the duration of their usage.

The rules should NOT be relaxed; instead, DEQ should be trying to reduce pollution, as we are already at a point where we cannot recover from the damage done.

Thank you for your consideration.
