Diesel generators

I am appalled to read that the Virginia DEQ is even thinking about allowing data centers to run diesel generators for anything but emergencies.

I have done some reading on the particulate matter and noise that these generators produce and it is beyond alarming. (Not to mention the amount of diesel and storage tanks needed to fuel them) Most data centers have multiple buildings and each building could have as many as 50 generators (depending on the size of the “campus”). Allowing these multitudes of generators to be run in anything but emergency use will have enormous adverse effects on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING nearby.

I believe the DEQ is supposed to safeguard the population and environment from gross pollution. This change in regulation will do anything but.
