Diesel Generators at Data Centers

We are opposed to allowing Data Centers to run Tier II diesel generators during "planned" outage events. Instead, we propose that Data Centers be allowed to run Tier IV portable generators (that have much stricter pollution standards) during these events.

The major mission of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is protection of public health and the environment. Tier II diesel generators are notoriously polluting entities, in terms of both noise and gaseous pollutants released into the atmosphere. Many of these gaseous pollutants are hazardous to human health and should be permitted only under extreme emergencies, not during "planned" outages.
