Emergency diesel generators are for emergencies ONLY.

Utilities MUST be required to buy the power needed on the open market beyond their ability to supply for ANY reason. This is simply a ploy by an energy hungry industry trying to mitigate their risks. Their risk mitigation should never rely on equipment not intended for the purpose. You shouldn’t even need to think about this one. If it gets by there will be lawsuits. It’s just outrageous that anyone thinks this is a good idea and that the extraordinarily rich companies building data centers should ask for a high environmental pollution and noise pollution solution is just selfish and mean.  If they think the power company supplying them might have problems then they SHOULD NOT build in that power company’s service territory and build their data centers in the middle of nowhere and pay for the infrastructure needed. Why are these data centers AI Tech companies always asking the public to pay up for their growth?  Higher electric bills lower property values, more pollution, less healthy environment. Don’t any of these companies, government agencies and local board of supervisors have a conscious?
