Preserve religious freedom

Faith-based agencies have a right, under federal and state law, to make decisions that are consistent with their religious beliefs, including their beliefs about marriage and family life.  In fact, some religious colleges and universities have been told that they do have an enough of an identity to their religion to be considered a religious place of education.  Here we have an issue where the government is seeking to strip away the ability of some religious organizations from doing their charitible service because they refuse to do something that goes against their beliefs.  The fact that such agencies stick to their beliefs shows that they truely have their religious identity and the government wants to shut them down for doing so.

The question is not about the rights of homosexual couples wanting to adopt, it is about religious freedom.  There are other outlets for adopting children that just religious organizations.  People wishing to adopt should go to an agency that best suits them rather than insisting that every agency ignore their religious identity.  Faith-based agencies provide vital services to our communities. They must be allowed to continue the great work they are doing.
