I urge you to retain the April 20 Board of Social Services approved (7-2 vote) regulations concerning child-placement in adoptive homes. Virginia already has public and private agencies through which homosexual couples can pursue adoption. Forcing faith-based agencies to not discriminate based on "sexual orientation" or "family status" goes against deeply held religious beliefs. For a birthmother and father considering adoption, the choice should be open to them to choose a family for their child who has similar religious beliefs and values. Continue to allow faith-based adoption agencies to abide and operate by their beliefs, as they are now allowed under state and federal law.
