Mother of 4

ALL people should be able to adopt; of course following all the normal criteria in Virginia. I am a mother of 4, and I am gay. None of that should matter. If we all want to be honest, when has what an adult does in the bedroom have anything to do with loving a child? NOTHING! Foster care is awful for kids. When i was a teen we were a foster family. We were sent a 2 yr old who was beaten and sexually abused by the hands of her mothers boyfriend (heterosexual). Her mother went to 6 months of parenting classes....WOW.... My parents wanted to adopt this little girl, but the state somehow feels that BIRTH parent should get one more chance....Well long story short this little girl had the same thing happen. She did finally find a home. But it was to late for her....her teens were filled with drugs and alcohol to numb the pain. She ended up dying of drugs and alcohol in her early 20's. Being gay or heterosexual has nothing to do with being a good parent. Please let these families adopt!!! The children in foster care are counting on it.
