Shoot for the ideal: a mommy AND a daddy......

I have read with interest many of the comments posted here. While I surely DO understand the points made, especially that kids need a home, a good home, any home and that those who are not offering theirs (hetereosexual included) shouldn't be quick to refuse those who wish to (even if gay). However, I still firmly think that the ideal of BOTH a father and mother figure is BEST for a child. I have two pre-teen daughters and they are extremely close to their dad, one even confides to him information she wouldn't tell me as her mother. My girls learn how to be a woman (how to dress appropriately, relate to others, cook, do make-up, etc...) from me and how a man should treat them (respect, correct forms of attention, work ethic, driving tractors, etc....) from their dad. I cannot imagine what they would lack/lose if either of us were the same sex as the other spouse. That said, I don't think it is discriminatory to gay couples, perse, for adoption agencies to shoot for the ideal: a stable, FUNCTIONAL loving (hetereosexual) couple in a strong marriage adopting kids who need homes AND good role models. I realize this is not the popular opinion here, but it is still one I hold along with many other people.
