Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

I strongly oppose

Hi,

I have nothing against same gender adults around the same age with each other.

I oppose it when it is children. I believe undesturbed children should play with other children their same age.

By play I mean sports, recreational activities and doing kid things.

Yes, there might be a child with more advanced thoughts or experiences. I wish that child to always know its only play time and nothing more.

I don't want my children returning to me sexulized or even pondering it in any symbolic, mystical, artistic, political or nuanced way.

My fear is that society today is taking youth and streamlining them for a confused existence that is more than a simple challenge for parents.

I don't want my kids playing doctor with other kids today. I prefer them to not know any of these things until they are over 10.

Finally, I want my kids to be respectful to all walks of life but always be aware and listen to the seeds of thought coming from others. Thank you.
