Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

VOTE NO! OPPOSED!

I am here to ask you to NOT add the sexuality-related language, particularly "gender identity," to the Equal Opportunity policy.  I ask that you not include transgender boys in my daughter's locker room. OR transgender girls in my son's locker room.

I am against this because I feel like you are taking my children’s innocence away.  I cannot support biological males being in my daughter’s bathroom or locker room nor can I support girls in my son’s bathroom or locker room.   It will damage more children than it saves.

It creates tremendous confusion and I blame liberals for this.  All of a sudden you have power and you are going way overboard!

Aside from the kids that may have an issue, what about the kids that don’t?  Do they have to suffer with a different gender invading their privacy?

Will it be a male teacher in my son’s locker room monitoring the transgender girl getting changed or the Female teacher monitoring a boy in the girl’s room?

In this environment we live in today, how could you possibly think this is okay?

I want you to think about your own kids and how you grew up.  Did you have the opposite gender in your bathrooms?  Why do this now?

I think this is absolutely absurd and should not even be a discussion.  I am sure if you go into bathrooms anywhere, you are appalled when someone from the opposite gender walks in.  I do!  and several people that voted on this in the past have regretted their votes.  I can remember one encountering a man in the same bathroom with her 6 year old daughter!  She couldn't believe she voted in favor of this.  I guess unless it happens to you directly, you don't care???

Go ahead, destroy our kids even more with this garbage.  They have been out of school for almost a year and then you throw this crap at them.  It will only backfire in your face!

My children won't be taking gym class then.
