I knew a child at the age of three who took deep exception to being called by his name. We didn’t know or have the words at the time but that child was struggling to cement their trans identity in a world that couldn’t comprehend what they knew in their psyche.
That child struggled to build relationships through school, developed a serious eating disorder leading to hospitalization and life long health issues, as well as cutting behaviors and attempting suicide.
I am utterly horrified by some of the comments I’ve seen. I have my own children now ages 3-10 and I cannot imagine about speaking about someone’s child the way that some of these people have.
Treating trans kids with the most basic levels of respect and tolerance saves lives. If you’re the type of person that life is sacred, starts act conception, and wants to #savethechildren, here are children that need saving, are asking for help, and have concrete ideas about how you can help.
