Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

STRONGLY Oppose!!

I STRONGLY oppose this Bill!  Forty percent of transgender people have attempted suicide.  The brain is not fully developed until the age of 25.  Therefore, how in the world can someone make such a life changing decision before then?  I was considered a "tomboy" until I was about in 9th grade.  I cannot imagine how my life would have turned out if my parents would have made such a horrific decision for me!  The parents that make this decision for their child should be considered child abusers.  Children are exposed to so many inappropriate things at too young of an age as it is right now.  We need to get back to putting our kids first and knowing what is appropriate for them instead of what gender we want them to be because they did not come out of the womb the gender that we were hoping for.  Kids have enough to go through as it is with social media.  We need to look at protecting them more by keeping them away from things that are not appropriate for them and perhaps we would not even be having this discussion.  Kids go through traumatic events.  Therefore, they should have professional counseling (and not just a school counselor) in order to be able to deal with what they have gone through instead of making them think that their life would be better if they were the other gender.  God DOES NOT make mistakes, and the parents that are doing this to their children will have to answer to it!

The person(s) that proposed this horrific Bill should be removed.  Hopefully, they will be removed from office with the next election!  Let kids be kids!!
