Parents are the caregivers of their child(ren). If a child is injured or sick or being bullied, a parent is (or should be) contacted. This should be the case even if the child requests the parent not be informed, including the situation of a child keeping secret a transgender status.
A second area of concern is overnight school-sponsored activities. Others may not be bothered but any student who refuses to share a room with a transgender student should be permitted to be in a different room.
A third concern is any student who claims to have a fluid gender and is creating havoc for teachers who never know how to address this student.
In summary, children are the ultimate responsibility of parents even though schools do carry responsibility while the students are in their care. It seems the teachers are having another weight thrust on them with these additional guidelines. But remember that parents should always be informed of issues or changes faced by their child(ren) so that they can properly help their child(ren).
Thank you for considering my comments.
