Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Have you lost your minds?

First of all, I am presuming from my subject line that you all know exactly where I stand on the subject of Northam and his "transgender mandates".  Northam made a basic error in logic: he thinks he can "mandate", when he can in realty do nothing.  Keep in mind that Northam and his cronnies will all be gone LONG before they fully destroy the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Like most communist liberals, Northam seeks to impose his vision of the world upon the rest of us.  Any student of history knows how that worked out for the Nazi's in WWII.  Secondly, any student is in school to "study and to learn".  At no point prior to graduation are they fully able to consolidate all that they have learned and then apply action (based upon their summation of knowledge, maturity and experience) that would change their future so dramatically as a decision made outside the family unit to pursue transgenderism.   Obviously, there are instances where biology has provided pathways for alternate selection of gender, but are those pathways to be based upon loving family unity and the teachings of our Creator, or upon the antics of transient governor who promotes murder of newborns.  Clearly, this ultimately is a fight between Good and Evil.  Be powered by the Light, not seduced by the Dark.
