Trans children deserve support and if we can find a way to prevent just one of them from experiencing abuse that can lead to suicide then such action needs to be studied and taken. Let's not forget that in the face of progress there has always been dissenters that will deny their dissent years later. White people did not want Black people in their schools, but the children of those white people would never admit their parents held those beliefs. Cisgender, heterosexual people did not want queer people to be happy but now queer people enjoy overwhelming support in national polls. The same will be said of trans students. People will wrongly oppose to their happiness and limiting the unequal and unnecessary treatment they face, but in 10 years will deny they were ever of that mindset. Please set an example, today, that you stand with marginalized people and not their oppressors.
