Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

This "new" society has gone a bit too far, in my opinion.  School was developed to teach the basic principles of education: Reading, Writing and Arithmetic.  Since when does the school board (teachers) need to concern themselves with teaching gender dysphoria and any other type of sexual education?  I understand teaching basic biology and touching on sexual abstinence, birth control, STD's.  However, teaching different practices that mainstream America is trying to popularize is just plain child abuse.  These children are much too young to be learning the scandalous ways of the world.  They are much to immature to understand and make sexual, gender changing decisions.  Accommodating the transgender community, without any sensitivity to the Christian community (students and faculty) is just wrong.  To bully, strong arm teachers to go along with this "fad" is inappropriate and against their rights.

How about we just get back to teaching the core subjects and educate our children to succeed and be able to compete with global students for decent paying jobs?  They will have plenty of information available once they are adults, and mature enough to make such decisions.

Please do not push for these policies.  Our children need us to be adults and make educated decisions based on their best interest.  Thank you
