Religious Adoption Agencies Should Not Discriminate

The appropriateness of adoptive homes should be based on recent valid psychological research, not on religious premises.  Social Services should establish the parameters of appropriateness and ALL adoption agencies within the state should adhere to the same rules.  It is wrong to eliminate any group of potentially good, loving and stable adoptive parents based soley on the religious views of the adoption agency.  If religious adoption agencies can not or will not handle adoptions based only on what is best for the child, they should not continue to handle adoptions.  Religious adoptions agencies that discriminate violate the premise of the separation of church and state, but most importantly, they preclude many placements that could result in children enjoying successful and happy futures.
