Foster parents, adoption equality

Having worked  as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, appointed by the judge to advocate for neglected and abused children in the courts, I have seen first hand how badly these children need a loving, caring home.  There are never enough families available to take these children in and they are often placed in distant localities, away from the schools they've always attended and the friends they have made.   This can be a very traumatic situation for these children that have already been traumatised way too much.

I personally have many gay and lesbian friends and know what loving homes they have to offer these children. They fact that the state would deny them the opportunity to give the children who need a loving home based on their sexual orientation is biased and unfounded.

The Virginia State Board of Social Services needs to NOT discriminate thier ruling of foster care and adoption policies based on race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, ,religion, political beliefs, sexual orientation, disability, and family status in providing services to children and perspective foster and adoptive parents.

Living with gay and or lesbian couples does not "make" a child gay or lesbian. It only makes them feel that they are lucky to be in a loving home.
