No one should be discriminated against for their gender, age, religion, political beliefs, sexual orientation, disability or family status. A child seeking a home does not care about any of these things, and permitting organizations to discriminate based on these criteria is comlpetely unreasonable. A child in an orphanage doesn't care if his/her adoptive parents are Christian or Muslim, young or old, male or female, straight or gay, or in a wheelchair. They just want to be placed in a home.

Not including this language in the non-discrimination policy of Virginian adoption agencies is an indirect condonement of this kind of discrimination. As someone who believes ALL kinds of families are legitimate, not just the kinds of families a given religious organization accepts, I argue that these policies must be put in place to protect children and ensure that they can find a family sooner rather than later. The idea of a child being denied a family to love because the family is a gay couple, or the parent is disabled, is abhorrent to me. Discrimination like this does not belong in America.
