Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

ABSOLUTELY NO WAY!

I vote NO!  As a parent it is my duty to protect my children from what is harmful and not right.  This proposal would create undue harm to my children's safety at school and their education.  I don't need a teacher deciding what they should and should not disclose to me.  I don't need a teacher telling my child un-truths about the world and promoting gender confusion.  I don't need biological boys using the bathroom with my daughter just as I don't need biological girls using the bathroom with my son.  What I need is for teacher to teach!  That's it.  Teach the math. Teach the language arts.  Teach the social studies.  Teach the science, the real science, not this made up agenda that is currently happening in our society.  As if the pandemic has not hindered our children's education enough we now have this proposal.  It is unbelievable and if passed I look for a mass exodus from the public school system.  When there are no children left in the school system to teach there will be no need for public school teachers.  I think those that are voting on this should think long and hard about the lasting effects of this decision for years to come.
