I support this legislation that works to allow trans youth to experience safety and acceptance at school, which can function as a site of stress if there is no structural support for students who are trans and gender nonconforming. It also should not be the burden and responsibility of trans and gender nonconforming youth to have to educate their teachers and peers on their identities and experiences. These model policies will strive to build education and acceptance within the school environment so trans and gnc students can be more present and not live in fear, and their peers can learn how to be supportive, respectful allies.
