Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Do not adopt these standards

First, you are taking children some of whom could be very young and with the LGBT sex education can cause confusion for them.  Even older students can be influenced to question their sexual idenity.  If they do and their parents are not aware of it the teachers and staff will be required to help them to believe they are of the opposite sex.  Since the school will not be able to tell the parents, they will be in the dark on this and not be able to help them with these doubts.  It is the responsibility of the parents for the education of their children and they are not the property of the state or the LGBT movement.   It is not right for the state to use the threat of children's services to stop the parents from helping their children who are confused, or taught to be confused on this most important decision.  Students and adults who are gay have a very high depression and sucide rate, since this is not natural.  Up until 1972 the American Psychological Association classified homosexuality as deviant behavior.  But when the gays got control of it they did away with that determination.
