Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Strongly Disagree with this policy!

I strongly disagree with the effort to adopt policy which furthers gender confusion.  Schools should have the responsibility to teach truth and not to play politics.  Gender confusion is simply another avenue in which those responsible are seeking to lie to people.  The truth is, there are two sexes - there was never a multitude of sexes until the recent years when society decided to lie to people.  The truth is, that upon birth, any medical physician worth his salt says that the child is either a male or female.  The physician does not place "unknown" in the blank - unless of course that has become the new hospital policy in which lying again is being proclaimed!  This policy is extremely dangerous from several vantage points.  First, is the outright lying that is taking place to tell a child we don't know what they are!  Stop the lying!  They were designed by their Maker as either a male of female.  scripture designates male and female - and not a bunch of "other."  Second, is the safety factor of the school.  Boys and girls deserve to have the decency and safety of using the restrooms and locker rooms in privacy.  Third, why on earth would we desire to promote something that is creating significant problems for teenagers today?  Adding this only fosters the growing suicide issues facing teens!  Stop the lying!!!  Fourth, why would the adults in the public system desire to lie to parents by stating one thing to their children when they are at school one version and then lying, again, when the parent is present.  This is absolutely disgusting and I vehemently oppose the policy!
