Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Proposed Transgender Policy Is Predatory, Abusive, and Anti-Scientific

I strongly oppose the proposed transgender policy under consideration for Virginia schools. This policy is anti-scientific, promoting the harmful myth that gender is fluid when each human is scientifically born male or female, in the image of our Creator, unchangeable down to the core of our very chromosomes no matter what hormonal or surgical procedures some choose to undergo. To allow a male identifying as a female to have access to female restrooms and locker rooms, or vice versa, is a state-sponsored abusive and predatory environment. No tax-paying parent should have to subject their innocent child to this unsafe environment and indoctrination in exchange for public education. No hard-working teacher should be forced to propagate this anti-scientific construct in their classroom and school at the risk of losing their career. The disregard for religious freedom in this policy is unconstitutional. You must vote against this policy. Matthew 18:6.
