Good Evening,
Recent changes throughout modern society has made me more and more fearful as an educational leader, and now as a parent. In our Catholic institutions, we teach the children to love the sinner and hate the sin, and that every man and woman is a child of God and deserves to be treated with that such dignity and respect. This in itself is all-inclusive language that does not discriminate against any person or ideal. What is being proposed is that we deviate from that teaching and mention specifics that are not always age-appropriate, nor biologically factual. The idea that there are more than two genders is absolute lunacy because there--in fact--not. Having educators teach something that is contrary to both their faith, as well as against scientific study, is hazardous to their young minds. We vehemently oppose teaching any such content to children the same way we oppose teaching them that 2 plus 2 equals 6: we can say that it is 6 and even convince millions of people to agree with us, but ultimately, 2 plus 2 is always going to equal 4.
Our Catholic Schools are not releasing bigots into our society as adults. We are releasing God-loving, and God-fearing men and women of all races and ethnicities. This indicates that our institutions are doing well, and are not coming out ignorant, but rather well-tempered, and civil to those with whom we disagree.
Our faith has been disallowed in the public school system for a reason. Please do not force your beliefs into our school system, as such an act would be an abuse of power, hypocritical, and heartbreaking on a multitude of levels.
I continue to pray for our leaders at both the local and national level, that they reshift their focus back to the reparation of our country from within. Our nation cannot be healed until our hearts are healed, and healing begins in the HOME. Please revert back to encouraging abstinence in our schools, and WHY we teach kids that pre-marital sex is an unwise and selfish decision. Teach young men of all races to act that way, and court young women with intent to wed, not bed. The divorce rate in this country is skyrocketing, yet the birth rate is not subsiding. This means that many of these youngsters are going to grow up without their mom and their dad living in the same home. Ever statistic suggests that their is a strong correlation between the level of success one attains in life, and the type of family structure they had growing up. Family is ahead of economic status, color, sex, orientation, etc.
I appreciate you allowing myself and others to weigh in. I would love to discuss this further in an open forum should the opportunity arise.
I pray that God will bless you always.
