I want to share my opinion on this matter for a number of reasons. First it's not safe for unlicensed and untrained individuals to place intravenous catheters. We risk our patients well being by opening that door. Risk for infection, risk for a number of other unsafe situations are posed when allowing untrained staff the option to place these catheters. Secondly, you are devaluing the License of a Veterinary Technician by saying that our training was never needed when you give these duties to unlicensed individuals.
Thank you for hearing my thoughts.
