Action Summary | During the 2002 Session of the General Assembly, changes were approved to the Appropriation Act that necessitated changes to the VSFAP regulations. These changes require that students seeking a second-degree shall receive lower priority in obtaining an award under this program and that an exception for military families be granted from the restriction requiring students to graduate from a Virginia high school in order to be eligible for this program. Additionally, at its July 17, 2001 meeting, SCHEV approved changes for incorporation into its regulations for VSFAP, including: · Requires that students maintain a 2.0 grade point average after completion of 60 credit hours in order to continue to be eligible to receive a Commonwealth award; · Excludes a student’s Virginia Prepaid Education Program and GEAR UP funds from the calculation of student financial need for purpose of determining eligibility for VSFAP awards; and · Provides a standard exception from requirement of continuous enrollment for students involved in a internships, CO-OP, or military service. |
