Educational Requirements
I object to the lowering of the educational standards. Where have the educational requirements gone? How can a person without the minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Soil Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Science or Environmental Health understand the science behind the evaluation of site and soil? The requirements for an Associate's Degree in Wastewater Work do not even include any soil related classes. The degree is qualifying you to run a treatment plant, not evaluate soil. Yet, an Associate's Degree in Wastewater and three years experience qualify you to be an Alternative Oniste Soil Evaluator? Soil evaluation is a science not a trade and should not even be grouped with wastewater operators. Instead of loosening the requirements they should be strengthened. There is no shortage of qualified inidividuals meeting the current OSE standards to provide for present and future needs. There is no reason for lowering the standards.
