The requirements for the OSE "journeyman" license are a joke. There is no way an individual can adequately learn what is needed to properly evaluate site and soil conditions in such a short amount of time. The "journeyman" license doesn't require the individual to take the exam?? This makes no sense.
There are many of us who have worked long and hard in this field to obtain and maintain proper licensing. I personally worked under a licensed evaluator for eight years and was required to pay for VDH OSE training courses before I could even sit for the exam. The notion that an individual could get an OSE license with one year of field experience and no exam requirement is hard to swallow.
I feel that the current licensing requirements for OSE licensing are reasonable and that adding a "journeyman" class will cause major problems down the road.
