It is my understanding that dentists licensed in Virginia are already mandated to have emergancy training and equipment consistent with the level of care provided. For the dentists involved in the unfortunate patient deaths, would the training/equipment requirement be significantly different under the proposed regulation? As dentists providing sedation, would they not have been required to have the more advanced emergency training and associated equipment per current regulations? If this is the case, what purpose would this proposed regulation serve? Thank you for your consideration.
