I do not agree with two points of the proposed changes to the adoption regulation. The first point that I object to is the inclusion of sexual orientation to the list of items agencies may not discriminate against. The second point that I object ot is the requirement that all agencies, including those that are faith-based, include this restriction in their process, even if it is against their faith. Is it in line with the Constitution to require organiziations to do things against their faith or to stop doing those things that they have been doing to help the comunity? I thought that we had freedom of religion in this country. I thought that we would not create a "State Religion". Is that what you are doing here? I believe that many of the adoptions handled within the state of Virginia are facilitated by faith-based agencies. Some of these will have objections to this new requirement and may choose to remove themselves from doing adoption assistance. What will happen to those children that these agencies would have helped? Who is going to pick-up the slack?
