At its meeting on December 14, 2011, the Board reviewed the petition, the comments
and a response from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to a recent petition
received by that federal agency. The DEA concluded that there is no substantial evidence
that marijuana should be removed from Schedule I because it continues to meet all
the criteria for such scheduling. Therefore, the Board voted to reject the petition
and take no further action.
