Giles County Public Schools oppose the proposed changes by DMAS to the Virginia school-based Medicaid reimbursement program. Our county borders West Virginia where our students' physicians may practice, and we could lose reimbursement if they are not a DMAS provider. We would all be at the mercy of the physicians to sign the Plans of Care forms and return them to us in a timely manner. A loss in reimbursement is likely, all while increasing the work of the school division personnel. This would negatively impact the billing compliance review.
We strongly urge you to reconsider these proposed changes and allow the current reimbursement requirements to remain in place.
