Thank you! Great changes to accountability system

These are much needed changes to the Accountability and Accreditation Framework. Families and all taxpayers in Virginia deserve to know how well their money is being used, and student outcomes should never be buried in / obscured by bad data.  Giving greater weight to mastery than growth and the creation of the the mastery index will prevent schools from graduating students who lack the basic skills needed to  succeed in this economy. Further, the current system focuses on students passing SOLs and provided no  incentives  to encourage students to reach higher levels of achievement. I also support giving chronic absenteeism a meaningful weight so students stop missing the opportunities we are giving them in school. Finally, I am thrilled to hear that middle schools will be incentivized to provide advanced coursework—these opportunities currently vary way too much by zip code and greatly impact college readiness. Thank you for reversing the awful trend of declining achievement in Virginia over these past ten years.
