It is unclear what the waiver for ratios is based on. Is there any data available that proves that 1 or 2 additional children per respective classrooms led to more incidents? It seems a very random decision to grant a waiver ( based on what....shortage of staff?)
We would like to see the ratio's changed permanently. This will also create more available spaces and accessibility across the industry. With all the training and enhanced qualifications that our staff needs to have, the safety of the kids can still be guaranteed.
It is also unclear what is meant by a mixed balanced age group, and why there is a ratio of 1:14 for a group consisting of 3, 4, and 5 years old, but in a group that has all 4 years old, the ratio is 1:10. Is it the expectation that in a mixed age group the 5 year olds take care of the 3 year olds?
