Is it possible to quantify benefits of the CE process? What are the results from programs in other states? Is the public safer?
I fear the CE program will result in professionals chasing the easiest CE points instead of a personal quest for pertinent knowledge.
I have let licenses expire in other states when they implemented CE programs. I will consider allowing my license to expire here as well.
It seems to me, the biggest winners are the folks offering courses ... especially the AIA.
If an improvement to the public safety can be quantified and attributed to the CE program, then I would have to reconsider my lack of enthusiasm.
If there is some sort of reciprocity argument being bandied about by the AIA; perhaps a voluntary CE program would be the best of both worlds. If you want reciprocity in another state, then you can pursue CE points. If that is not a personal issue, then you could ignore the CE.
