Childhood is a tumultuous time for any kid, especially for those who are fighting the uphill battle to simply exist as their happiest, most authentic self. Kids who feel supported and well rooted in their true selves perform high in education, are able to feel more included and engaged in the community, and it can reduce the shockingly high suicide rate for Trans/non binary youth. Basic respect and support shouldn’t need to be debated, but clearly we need to do better by our community. For those posting negative comments, I urge you to lean in and learn more about their journeys. Please, please add more inclusive protections to ensure ALL youth are well supported and better provided for. Our communities are stronger when we make space for ALL.
