As educators it is a responsibility that all teachers create a space in their classrooms where all students are able to learn comfortably and successfully learn and grow. Discrimination of any kind in schools is repugnant and all teachers should be working to eliminate any and all discriminatory actions. One of the biggest things we teach students is that they should feel confident in being who they are and should be proud of their individuality. If this goal of teachers does not include a student's right to express themselves and identify as they best see fit than the education system is choosing to act with intent of hypocrisy and are actively not putting the effort in to make every student's educational experience the best it can be.
