I have been testing backflow prevention devices, attached to lawn irrigation systems, in James City County for the last 12 years. Lawn irrigation systems pose a great risk of contamination to our drinking water supply. From pesticides and fertilizers to fecal matter and other pathogens, the potential hazards are numerous and deadly. A well maintained and TESTED backflow preventer is the best line of defense. I totally support our county's program and believe it is needed now more than ever.
