Support Emergency Rule

I am writing to support the proposed Emergency Rulemaking. The purpose is lawful and required in order to protect both essential workers, and the community where those workers live. What happened on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where the poultry processing plants did not protect their workers for several weeks as the pandemic was spreading, could happen at any workplace. Both the Governor and the poultry industry is responsible for the high infection rate and community spread throughout the Eastern Shore, due to lack of required protections for workers. Northampton County, Virginia, has one of the highest Covid death rates of any county in the United States, due to outbreaks caused by essential workers. The proper wearing of masks (Over the nose and mouth) by all employees of any business is the least expensive, least intrusive method of controlling the spread of COVID-19, and should be mandated by the State until the pandemic is over. If all workers and employers comply with the mask requirements, the spread of coronavirus could be controlled and managed, meaning no more draconian shutdown measures would need to be imposed. Please protect the workforce, their families, and the communities where they live by adopting these Emergency regulations. Sincerely, Roberta Kellam
