I am very concerned about the urge to open schools in brick-and-mortar building when we do not have the assurances that staff members all employees and families of children at risk will not be protected. Currently there are no mandates that students wear masks. We are hearing of resurgence in areas that have lessened restrictions. It seems fool hardy to start in the building and then have to close and go virtual. It would be far better just start the school year virtually with a robust digital plan ensuring that students have the technology that they need and teachers have enough Enough time to plan great lessons. This would also give families with school-age children sufficient time to arrange for care for those students while they are at work. Right now too many people are relying on our schools to provide daycare.
