Emergency standards from Va DOLI

Please exempt dentists from these new regulations, which I believe would be unnecessary and overly burdensome for our profession.

The ADA and VDA have each issued interim guidelines around safely practicing dentistry during this pandemic, and dentists already follow detailed guidelines from the CDC to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.

Dentists are well-versed in infection control, and are already focusing on recommendations from the CDC, ADA, VDA, OSHA, and as a pediatric dentist, the AAPD. Please do not give me yet another set of recommendations to keep up with and more paperwork. We’re doing so much already to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As a fledgling business (I was set to open when the pandemic started), I do not need yet another series of tasks to add to my plate.

If you do choose to include dentists, then please provide clear guidance with reasonable and attainable requirements rather than nebulous recommendations.

Respectfully,
H. Bono, DDS
