Basic epidemiology and it’s experts, logic and the behavior of many I know all convince me that until an effective vaccine or treatment is available for COVID-19, we aren’t safe and should participate in the economy ONLY when risk is really minimized according to CDC recommendations.  Seeing most Lowe’s entering customers not wearing masks kept me in curbside pick-up until the slow and error-prone service drove me back home and online for minimal purchases.  We haven’t gone into a store for months for similar reasons and have set aside our restaurant and theater traditions. The economy may improve a bit if policy makers stop caring about pandemic realities, but concerned workers and customers like me who don’t feel protected by masks, respiratory barriers and distancing will not trust the policies and will definitely wait as long as it takes!
